Choosing a Firewood Supplier You Can Trust

Updated: Nov 1

We believe buying firewood should be simple, transparent, and honest. Unfortunately, we often hear from new customers that Northeast Ohio's local firewood market isn’t always that way.

When you’re comparing firewood suppliers, here are a few important things to look for:

  • Transparent Pricing – A reputable business should have clear, consistent pricing listed publicly. “Call for pricing” creates an unnecessary and frustrating process for customers and allows prices to adjust often. Some companies keep their prices hidden so they can increase the cost based on your neighborhood’s median income or claim “supply and demand” when their supply is running low. A stable, well-managed inventory should allow for steady, upfront pricing all year long.

  • Properly Seasoned Wood – Seasoned firewood has a moisture content below 20%. It is dried naturally in the sun and wind for many months or processed in a kiln for days. It’s actually illegal to sell unseasoned firewood that is advertised as seasoned, yet we still hear this story often. We’ve seen companies splitting fresh logs directly into delivery trucks and even sellers using drywall moisture readers to mislead customers. Be sure to ask about their refund policy.

  • Professional Customer Service – Communication and delivery should always be professional, reliable, and respectful of you and your property. You deserve nothing less.

  • Authentic Reviews – Trustworthy feedback grows steadily and naturally from genuine customer experiences. If a company suddenly gains a large number of reviews in a short time, it’s worth taking a closer look. Even Google prohibits incentivized reviews to keep feedback honest.

The Firewood Co. is proud to maintain a reliable inventory of seasoned and kiln-dried firewood year-round. Our pricing is transparent, our products exceed regulatory standards, and every order includes a detailed receipt and a money-back guarantee.

Building community trust takes time — and we believe it’s worth it.

Stay warm,
