Naturally Seasoned, Heat Treated and Kiln Dried. What does it all mean?

Updated: 2 days ago

Naturally Seasoned Firewood is dried naturally in the sun and wind and sheltered from the rain and snow.  Seasoned firewood has a moisture content less than 20%.

Heat Treated refers to a certifiable and closely regulated treatment to disinfest wood.  Heat treated does not reflect on the moisture content of the firewood. The purpose of heat treatment, is that the internal wood temperature has reached levels high enough and for long enough to destroy pests and pathogens on or in the wood.  This treatment prevents the spread of invasive species and protects your home from pests.

We offer two options of Heat Treated Firewood for: Seasoned and Kiln Dried:

Heat Treated Seasoned Firewood has a moisture content of less than 20%.

Heat Treated Kiln Dried Firewood has a moisture content of less than 10%.

All options are hardwoods and safe for cooking and indoor fireplaces.   Our firewood is cut uniformly and to manageable size.

Stay warm,
